The central guest? Countertenor Pieter De Praetere, lending his unique voice to works by Handel, Purcell, and Hasse. Expect a sweeping panorama of the best Baroque opera has to offer \u2013 from melancholy to opulence, from fiery passion to sheer virtuosity. A few detours add extra spice to the summer evening: Corelli\u2019s \u2018La Folia\u2019 gets a fresh twist, Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019 \u2018Danse Macabre\u2019 brings a theatrical wink, and the finale of Beethoven\u2019s Seventh Symphony will blow the roof off!<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1050\" data-end=\"1478\">Figuratively speaking, of course \u2013 both concerts take place outdoors: one during Maanrock, Mechelen\u2019s city festival, and one in the picturesque Sorghvliedtpark in Hoboken. Master of ceremonies Kurt Van Eeghem leads the audience through the music with contagious enthusiasm, sharing his love for the genre in his own inimitable way.
