In 2027, it will be two hundred years since Ludwig van Beethoven’s death. Two centuries on, his music remains a cornerstone of the repertoire. His symphonic masterpieces stand as unshakeable beacons and continue to inspire, move and surprise across the ages. Of these, his Fifth Symphony, nicknamed the ‘Fate Symphony’, is undoubtedly the best-known example. With just four notes (short-short-short-long), Beethoven definitively set a new course for nineteenth-century musical language. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto is also, according to many music lovers, one of the finest examples of the genre.
For this Beethoven anniversary, Casco Phil shares the stage with the young Dutch star violinist Hawijch Elders, who won the top prize at the prestigious Antonio Mormone Competition at La Scala in Milan in 2025. An exciting prelude to this iconic double bill is being written especially for the occasion by the Iraqi all-round musician Osama Abdulrasol, who is making a name for himself as a composer with a unique musical signature.
