At the heart of the programme is pianist Noah Vanden Abeele, a musician who has carved out a place all his own within the Belgian music scene in recent years. Vanden Abeele combines a solid classical background with a distinct affection for a minimalist, richly imaginative sound world. As pianist, composer and improviser, he moves effortlessly between tradition and experiment.
A special place is reserved for a world premiere by composer and violinist Margaret Hermant. She too searches in her work for common ground between classical traditions, imagination and a contemporary musical language.
