Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy – Elijah, opus 70

Felix Mendelssohn composed his monumental oratorio Elijah in 1846, at the height of his career. The work combines the grandeur of Handel and Bach with Mendelssohn’s Romantic refinement. Dramatic choral passages, intimate arias, and virtuosic ensembles alternate in a score that vividly portrays the struggles and spirituality of the prophet Elijah.

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Octopus Symphonic Choir, Casco Phil, conductor Bart Van Reyn, and an international quartet of soloists present Mendelssohn’s masterpiece at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp. Here, the dramatic contrasts and spiritual depth of this oratorio come fully to life.

An exceptional opportunity to experience Mendelssohn’s visionary music in a performance that unites grandeur, emotion, and devotion.
