Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Symphony nr. 1 in E-flat major, KV 16

Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy – Violin concerto in e minor, opus 64

Ludwig von Beethoven – Symphony nr. 3 in E-flat major, opus 55 ‘Eroica’

Casco Phil shines a light on the early masterpieces of youthful composers who changed the course of music history. Mozart’s First Symphony, written at the age of eight, already hints at his genius. Felix Mendelssohn — often dubbed the ‘Mozart of the 19th century’ — wrote one of the most beloved violin concertos ever, full of melody, brilliance and freshness. His final orchestral work even contains a playful nod to Mozart.

Soloist Sylvia Huang, laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, brings this concerto to life with refined and expressive playing.

The evening concludes with Beethoven’s Third Symphony, the ‘Eroica’: a revolutionary and heroic milestone marking the start of Romanticism.

A concert filled with youthful brilliance, virtuosity, and timeless innovation.
