Spiegel im Spiegel is not only the most frequently played work by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, it has also been at the top of the Klara Top 100 for years. The work will be at the centre of the opening concert of the Antwerp Spring Festival; a concert in which we will try to provide an answer to our hectic, digital, hyper-fast daily life. The search for inner peace is of all times, and so we combine music by Johann Sebastian Bach with that of the recently deceased Japanese ‘king of minimalism’, Ryuichi Sakamoto. Antwerp Spring Festival brings the popular Max Richter, resounding name John Adams and, of course, Arvo Pärt himself. And we also have two soloists for you: top Japanese pianist Gen Tomuro from Tokyo and violinist Elise Bertrand, a soloist from the ranks of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, the breeding ground for top talent. The whole event will be accompanied by Casco Phil. Join Antwerp Spring Festival on a meditative journey through history in search of inner peace and beauty.
